Tomb Raider: Anniversary
, is the remake of the very first Tomb Raider game, which came out ten years ago, with much improved graphics and new content.

The lengthy score, by Troels Folmann, combines traditional instrumentation with considerable electronic touches. The main theme, The Croft Manor, is a subtle piano based track with additional synth elements which range from percussion to strings, helping to capture the listener's attention. It's remarkably soothing.

The music used for the cinematics, as heard in the Lost Island Cinematic or Great Pyramid tracks, accomplishes a film-like feel to the overall experience, creating a sense of urgency with violins, powerful winds and a small choir.

The in-game music relies more on building ambience consisting mostly of sounds rather than utilizing thematic elements, but occasionally soars in action tracks such as the Egypt Main Theme or Peru Bear Theme.

A true sense of mystery and wonder is revealed in these tracks; obviously much work was put for this major release. I wasn't expecting much from this offering but I must say that it truly won me over.
